Hernando High School's Interact Club, which is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Hernando, is made up of approximately 220 members and 2 sponsors. Interact is a service organization that is committed to school, community, and international service. For the past 8 years we have worked hard to spread awareness and to promote acceptance of children with special needs in our school, especially those with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental and intellectual disabilities. We have worked very closely with ARC of Northwest Mississippi to build a support network for these children and their families.
Please click on the links at the top of the page to learn more about the many efforts our students have made over the years dedicated to this special cause by clicking the Autism Awareness Tab on our homepage.
In addition, we participate many other community and international service projects. Our members are regular volunteers at the Special Olympics. They have also worked with local elementary schools with Read Across America and supported our troops over seas with a Christmas card campaign. We have been active participants in the Habitat for Humanity Homerun 5K and been a major fundraiser for St. Jude with the "Run Freddie Run" event.
